Camping Wedderbergen has existed for more than 50 years and is for many a household name in Groningen. After several owners, we became owners of a then impoverished Wedderbergen 26 years ago. The 40-acre park was exactly the challenge we were looking for!

Mission: to bring tourism back to beautiful Wedde!

Hands off; work to do!
Not all investments were immediately visible to guests in the beginning. Our first monster job: the construction and reinforcement of various infra structures; there was almost nothing in the ground yet.

Camping fields incl. the sanitary building were realized and the first chalets were placed but unfortunately this still did not have the desired effect: the company needed a tourist injection which eventually came in the form of the indoor swimming pool.

Some subsequent projects;

• several outdoor and indoor playgrounds
• large water playground with slides
• further reinforcement/expansion of infrastructure
• 51 rental accommodations
• Creation of a hump of greenery and water pools (now a breeding ground for kingfishers)
• restaurant, conservatory and terrace
• 24 luxury private sanitary units
• restructuring fixed pitches
• waterfall valley including 5 play islands and sanitary pavilion

We have been building nonstop for the past 13 years; where possible we do everything ourselves with owner Tonnie as contractor. Welcome to the 8 day work week ;)!

Exciting: the first reviews, ratings and stars!
After years of investment, Camping Wedderbergen has not gone unnoticed in the recreation industry; we now have a 5th ANWB star in the pocket, we have twice been voted 'Best campsite of the Northern Netherlands' and we have been awarded silver as the 'nicest outing of Groningen'!

With our small team we are also very proud of the beautiful reviews; a crown on our (hard) work!

Proud but not yet finished; we will continue!
Camping Wedderbergen now welcomes thousands of tourists a year, but is also in the middle of a restructuring process aimed at further revitalization. Outdated permanent sites are leaving the park, facilities are being renovated on the basis of a future-proof policy. In the coming years we will further concentrate on offering shorter, luxury camping vacations.

We will be building again this winter! Keep an eye on our social media, as we will be announcing our projects soon.

Camping Wedderbergen is a family-run business run by a small, service-oriented team ready to serve guests 24/7. Our team ranges in age from 16 to well over 65, and as a recognised training company we also work with apprentices and interns.
