The Fluttert family would like to give you a very warm welcome!

Camping Wedderbergen has been around for more than 55 years and has become a well-known name in Groningen. After several previous owners, we took over Wedderbergen 26 years ago, when the campsite was in need of a great deal of attention. With 40 hectares of land, it was exactly the kind of challenge we were looking for!

Our mission: bringing tourism back to beautiful Wedde

There was plenty of work to be done. Many of our first investments were not immediately visible to guests. One of our biggest early projects was installing and upgrading the campsite's infrastructure, as very little was in place underground at the time.

We created new camping fields and sanitary facilities and placed the first chalets. However, the campsite still needed something extra to attract more holidaymakers. That turning point came with the construction of our indoor swimming pool.

Since then, many more projects have followed, including:

• Several outdoor playgrounds and a large indoor play centre
• A large water playground with slides
• Further expansion and upgrading of the infrastructure and ICY electricity system
• 51 holiday accommodation units
• A restaurant, spacious conservatory and terrace
• 24 luxury private sanitary units
• Redevelopment of permanent-pitch areas into touring pitches
• A large water valley with five play islands and a new sanitary pavilion
• Special trees, ponds, pathways and solar lighting

For the past 13 years, we have hardly stopped building and improving the campsite. Wherever possible, we do the work ourselves, with owner Tonnie often taking on the role of contractor. Welcome to our eight-day working week! 😉

From hard work to recognition

After years of investment, Camping Wedderbergen has certainly not gone unnoticed within the leisure industry. We are proud to have achieved our fifth ANWB star, to have been named Best Campsite in the North of the Netherlands twice and to have won silver in the Best Day Out in Groningen awards.

We were also nominated for the title Camping of the Year 2026 – an achievement we are incredibly proud of. Just as important to us are the many positive reviews from our guests. They are a wonderful reward for all the hard work our team puts in every day.

Proud, but far from finished

Today, Camping Wedderbergen welcomes thousands of holidaymakers every year, but our development is still ongoing. Older permanent pitches are gradually making way for new touring pitches, while facilities are continuously being renewed with the future in mind.

In the coming years, we will continue to focus on comfortable, high-quality camping holidays and further improvements throughout the park. We are still building and developing, so keep an eye on our social media channels for the latest updates.

A true family business

Camping Wedderbergen is a family-run business supported by a small and service-minded team that is always there for our guests. Our team ranges in age from 16 to well over 65. As an accredited training company, we also regularly work with students and trainees.
